Fixing Wood Effect Tiles - Natural Looking Grout & Silicone

When installing wood effect tiles, the first thing to consider is the substrate – these tiles often come as extra-long planks and it is important to ensure that the subfloor is smooth and level to avoid problems with lipping.  Tilemaster Adhesives has a full range of levelling and patching compounds allowing you to pick one that suits the substrate and time constraints of the project on which you are working.  There is even one, Tilemaster External Leveller which has been developed for use outdoors if you are installing wood-effect tiles as garden decking.

Once the surface is level, a suitable adhesive should be chosen, again Tilemaster has a comprehensive range: such as Tilemaster Magix lightweight adhesives which are great for putting heavier tiles onto walls, and the Setaflex range of advanced flexible adhesives which are good for use over underfloor heating and other substrates subject to movement.

Finally, the choice of grout and silicone is also very important as it pays to match the grout colours to the tiles as closely as possible to achieve the same effect as a real wood floor.  Tilemaster Grout 3000 is available in 18 colours, with a number of them developed in shades which match the colour of popular wood-effect tiles.  The grout is highly flexible and versatile and can be used both indoors and out.  It is efflorescence-free and mould resistant so will not discolour with use.

Tilemaster Silicone 3000+ is a premium low modulus mould resistant silicone which is available in the same shades as Tilemaster Grout 3000, meaning that movement joints will match the rest of the installation.
