Tilemaster benefits come full circle at Powell Corderoy Primary School
Mosaic artist, Jackie Nash recently used a range of Tilemaster products to create a welcome mosaic for Powell Corderoy Primary School in Surrey. Chosen to provide a range of fixing benefits, as well as suitability for cold and damp conditions outdoors, the specification included a Tilemaster primer, adhesive and grout.
Believed to have been founded in 1816, Powell Corderoy is an old school with a strong history. It was originally known as ‘Dorking British School’ and the vibrant circular mosaic proudly displays these initials, along with the school’s “Do Better Still” moto. The plaque was made on 18mm marine plywood disc, which Jackie primed with Tilemaster Flexmaster. The multi-purpose, flexible primer was used to increase adhesion, prolong working time and improved water resistance.
Children from the school helped Jackie position the mosaics, which she then fixed into place using highly flexible, rapid-set Tilemaster Ultimate Adhesive. The finished design was then grouted with Tilemaster Mid Grey Grout 3000, which provided smooth, controlled workability, as well as very low water permeability and frost-resistance.
“The Powell Corderoy project is a small but perfect example of Tilemaster’s benefits. Each product allowed me to complete the intricate design, without any snags at all, and provide a finished plaque which will stand the test of time outside the school’s main entrance,” explained Jackie.
