Tilemaster Adhesives' Paul Kelly has received the coveted TTA Lifetime Achievement Award. Presented by The Tile Association at its recent annual awards ceremony, Paul was recognized for his tremendous business achievements - underpinned by an absolute customer focus. The Association also acknowledged Paul's "perseverance in the face of adversity", having survived a serious accident at work in 2002 and an equally serious cycling accident in 2006; Paul went on to make a full recovery and now works closely with charities, including the North West Air Ambulance.
Five products from Tilemaster's range have been specified, by Tile Superstores Ringwood, at Thruxton Race Track. The specification forms part of an extensive porcelain installation throughout a new, flagship hospitality building. The new facility will be inaugurated this summer, as part of Thruxton's 50th anniversary year.
Tilemaster Adhesives has launched Magix - a new, revolutionary high yield wall and floor tile adhesive. Developed to offer exceptional workability, Magix's high yield formulation gives coverage equivalent to a traditional 20kg bag of sand/cement based tile adhesive from a 10kg bag, doubling coverage rates.
Tilemaster has been announced as a finalist in four categories of The Tile Association Awards 2018. They include Best Innovation, Employee of the Year and Best Commercial Project, in the Small and Large categories. Tilemaster's Hannah Bamford, former Apprentice Development Chemist, has been promoted to Lab Manager. In her new position, Hannah will oversee the entire laboratory function, including management of the lab team, and controlling and managing formulations and EN certification.
Tilemaster has boosted its growing technical support team with the appointment of Craig Powell. Bringing further practical experience to the homegrown firm, Craig has run his own tile fixing business for over 14 years, working on domestic and commercial tiling projects throughout the UK.
Specialist floor fitter, Steven Hugo has joined Tilemaster’s Technical Team. In the new role, Steven will support customers with technical related flooring enquiries, providing expert advice gained from over 16 years ‘on the tools’.
Gareth Birks has joined Tilemaster Adhesives as Sales Manager. Bringing 16 years’ specialist experience in the adhesives sector, Gareth will look after Tilemaster’s customers throughout the UK, providing support and technical assistance, and bringing new innovations to market.
Tilemaster has launched a new fast-drying Tanking Kit and Paste system that is a single coat application and is ready to tile after just three hours. Designed to waterproof areas exposed to wet and damp conditions, the single-coat ‘ready to use’ kit can be applied directly to unprimed surfaces, where it seals and stabilizes the substrate before tiling. The tanking system is ideal for bathrooms, showers, wet rooms and steam rooms in both commercial and domestic applications and it can also be used externally.
A Tilemaster fixing system has been specified by Penrith Tile Centre at The Fitz in Cockermouth, Cumbria. The extensive hotel installation, which was project managed and designed by Penrith Tiles’ John Williams, includes Italian porcelain, mosaics and encaustics. All finishes were installed by Paul Burkett Construction, using Tilemaster adhesives, grouts and matching silicones.
Tilemaster Adhesives has announced that it has been acquired by Kerakoll. Following theacquisition, the two brands will continue to run separately, in order to continue building and progressing both brands. Tilemaster’s Managing Director, Mark Kelly and the rest of the team – including Paul and Rhona Kelly – will continue in their roles, with “business as usual”at the Lancashire-based firm.
Tilemaster LevelFlex has been supplied, by DHS Ltd, at Alderney Community Sports Centre (ACSC) – the Island’s first swimming pool and gym facility, which is being crowd-funded. The new facility is the result of huge funding efforts by the Island’s residents, local businesses, sponsors and donors; with Patron Duncan Goodhew MBE giving the ‘Swim Alderney’ campaign extra impetus. So far, over £600,000 has been raised, with initiatives including ‘name a tile’.
A stunning Roccia tile installation, at Preston’s landmark Masjid e Salaam Mosque, has been completed using a Tilemaster fixing system. Part of a £3 million redevelopment, the ‘blueprint’ installation was carried out by multiple tiling teams recommended by Roccia. It features Roccia porcelain surfaces, in 6mm and 12mm large formats, installed over wall and floor heating through the building’s magnificent interior.

Tilemaster Adhesives has introduced a new damp proof membrane to its surface preparation range. New FAST One Coat DPM is a solvent-free, epoxy-based product that cures in just 4-5 hours. The two-component system can be used on surfaces with a relative humidity of up to 98% and can be installed where no structural DPM is present.
Tilemaster has been shortlisted for The Tile Association ‘Excellence in Marketing Award’ 2017. The nomination is in recognition of Tilemaster’s customer-focused marketing activities, which aim to inform tile fixers and retailers, and provide useful tools on site and in the showroom.
Mosaic artist, Jackie Nash recently used a range of Tilemaster products to create a welcome mosaic for Powell Corderoy Primary School in Surrey. Chosen to provide a range of fixing benefits, as well as suitability for cold and damp conditions outdoors, the specification included a Tilemaster primer, adhesive and grout.
Gareth Gray has joined Tilemaster as Area Sales Manager for its Flooring Division, for the North, Midlands, Scotland and Ireland. In his role, Gareth will work with flooring distributors and contractors, offering daily technical and specification support, carrying out site visits and organising demonstration days.
Tilemaster has launched its new ultra-rapid setting self-leveller – Super Flow 30. The new two-part system provides a top surface finish that can be walked on within 30 minutes - and covered with decorative floor coverings after 90 minutes and ceramics within 45-60 minutes. The new ‘game changer’ compound offers multiple fixer benefits – from speed, to ease of application - and can be used as a primer-less system.
A range of Tilemaster products have been used, by V-TA Architectural Tiling, at Blakes Hotel in London’s Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The project included installation of a new Moroccan-style ceramic terrace at the rear of the “Couture” hotel. The Solus Ceramics form part of the vibrant Courtyard Garden, designed by Matthew Williamson, which is nestled between the hotel and its muse house. They were fixed into place using levelling, adhesive and grout products from Tilemaster’s collection.

Darren Ewing from Eclipse Flooring was the lucky winner of Tilemaster’s ‘Track Day’ prize draw at the recent Harrogate Flooring Show 2016. Based in Wallasey, Eclipse Flooring covers Liverpool, Wirral and the surrounding areas. Darren and partner, Paul Pinder specialise in LVT installations but also supply and fit a wide range of other flooring products, in the domestic and contract sectors.
Tilemaster Adhesives is supporting mosaic artist, Jackie Nash in the creation of a remembrance garden for Finlay Church. At just ten years old, Finlay was diagnosed with a brain tumour. During a year-long battle with the disease, he raised £100k to help others, as well as breaking a world record for the longest line of teddy bears - 15,534 – and receiving numerous accolades, including the Pride of Birmingham Award. Sadly, Finlay lost his fight last autumn and the mosaic garden at his school – Alvechurch Middle School in Worcestershire – aims to celebrate his life.

Tilemaster Adhesives has formerly announced the appointment of Mark Ellis as its Technical Support Manager. Mark brings over 15 years’ experience to the family-run UK manufacturer. The appointment coincides with expansion throughout Tilemaster, most recently within its infrastructure and customer support teams.
Tilemaster Adhesives Ltd has helped Mosaic Artist, Jackie Nash complete a specialist mosaic project for Mount Carmel School’s prayer garden, in Redditch. A fixing system including Tilemaster primer, adhesive and grout provided Jackie with the materials to permanently fix mosaics to a zinc-coated steel cross. The system also eliminated issues relating to movement, which has ensured that the design is in pristine condition now - one year on - and into the future. Tilemaster’s technical team provided expert advice and support throughout, enabling Jackie to fulfil her brief.
Tilemaster’s Tanking System offers an advanced waterproofing barrier for areas exposed to damp and water, including wet rooms and swimming pools. The ready-to-use sealing system is designed to prepare and seal substrates – from plaster board to concrete block - ahead of ceramic, porcelain and stone installation. Its flexible composition gives a fast, easy application - internally and externally – and tiles can be fixed after four hours.
Tilemaster’s One Coat DPM provides a high coverage, solvent-free solution for a range of substrates – from sand and cement, to ‘wet’ underfloor heating systems. The two-component epoxy is suitable for new and existing screeds, with up to 97% relative humidity. It offers high-bond strength and is also resistant to grease, oil, dilute mineral and organic acids.
Tilemaster Thick Bed FlexiRapid offers the ideal bonding solution for large format floor tiles. The fast track, pourable adhesive is specially developed for the solid bed fixing of ceramic, porcelain, terrazzo and natural stone tiles. It can also be used to level floors and is suitable for fixing tiles of uneven thicknesses, such as limestone flagstones or installations incorporating different tile designs and materials.
Penrith Tile Centre recently completed an extensive tiling project, using Tilemaster fixing products, at Cumbrian Homes’ exclusive Carleton Manor Park development. The new luxury homes featured porcelain wood effects, unpolished tumbled marble and stone mosaics, supplied by Ca’ Pietra, Marshalls Tile and Stone Interiors and Verona. Tilemaster’s Apprentice Development Chemist, Hannah Bamford has received the for TTA (The Tile Association) ‘Trainee of the Year’ Award 2016. The prestigious award was presented to Hannah at TTA Awards’ Annual Gala Dinner. The event was held at St John’s Hotel & Conference Centre, in Solihull, and attended by around 300 leading industry figures.
Tilemaster Adhesives’ preparation and fixing products were recently specified as part of a Tiled Space ceramic mural installation at ZSL London Zoo’s new lion enclosure - Land of the Lions. The stunning installation includes 1024 individually printed tiles – created using patented Tiled Space technology – which form a vibrant Indian-themed visual on a curved brick wall.
A Tilemaster subfloor system has been installed as part of an extensive refurbishment project at Vauxhall’s Wilson & Company dealership, on Manchester Road, Bolton. Installed by Standish-based PKJ Flooring, the specification comprised of four products, including Tilemaster’s new rapid-set screed, Pro Flow.

A Tilemaster Adhesives tile-fixing system has been used to help transform an underpass in Cannock, Staffordshire into a vibrant walkway. Part of Cannock Council’s ‘Changing Places’ scheme, the refurbished subway now resembles an art gallery, with a “now and then” theme featuring local landmarks.

A Tilemaster floor system has been installed, by Premier Flooring, within a new sports hall facility at Manchester Grammar School. The new facility, at the celebrated independent boys’ school, will accommodate various activities including cricket training, squash, indoor hockey and badminton.
Tilemaster’s Setaflex Semi-Rapid provides the ideal adhesive option for large format, natural stone and intricate tile installations. Developed to give longer working times, the polymer-modified adhesive has a pot life of 90-120 minutes and can be walked-on/grouted after six hours.

Tilemaster has introduced new Trade Flow to its floor levelling range. The new multi-purpose smoothing compound is a two-part latex-based system. It offers a range of application benefits, including excellent flow properties and a 2-12mm application in one pour. The new screed is moisture tolerant and suitable for most substrates, including plywood overlay and underfloor heating.
Tilemaster Adhesives is set to exhibit at two trade events this autumn. They include STS’s 50th Anniversary Trade Evening and Exhibition, in Watford, and DHS’s Annual Trade Exhibition, in Guernsey. Both events take place on Thursday 15 October and Tilemaster highlights will include the official launch of two new smoothing compounds – Pro Flow and Trade Flow.
